Opportunities to Learn About the History and Future of Housing in Nashville

Nashville is suffering an ongoing affordable housing crisis. Through three upcoming events, you can learn about the history of housing inequity in our city, the current struggles of Nashvillians to find affordable housing in the city they work in, and hopes for the future of fair housing.

  • On Sunday, March 28, at 6:00 pm, PATHE (People’s Alliance for Transit, Housing, and Employment) will begin a six-month study, Nashville Housing Justice in 2021 - Truth & Reconciliation, “dedicated to connecting the dots between today's housing, employment, and education crises and the decisions Nashville's institutions have made over the last 100 years.” Sign up at bit.ly/PATHE2021.

  • On Sunday, March 28, at 2:30 pm, the monthly meeting of NOAH’s Affordable Housing Task Force will be devoted to a hearing of Nashvillians who are struggling to find affordable housing, attended by Metro Council members including Burkley Allen and Zulfat Suara (the former and current chairs of the Council’s Affordable Housing Committee). Contact Nancy Colowick for a Zoom link for the meeting.

  • On Thursday, April 1, at 4:00 pm, the Metro Human Relations Commission and the Tennessee Fair Housing Council will present Part II of The History and Future of Fair Housing in Nashville. Contact Nancy Colowick for sign-up info.
